This bill would amend Code Section 20-2-52.1 of the O.C.G.A. to provide in counties where there is a homestead option sales tax and a county sales tax for education purposes [(DeKalb County] to revise the timeline related to reducing the board to seven members. It stretches the deadline to reduce the board to January 1, 2017. It also would allow any board member serving as of January, 2014 who was appointed by the Governor to serve until January1, 2017. Should any of the appointed board members no longer serve before that deadline, the Governor would appoint a replacement to serve until January 1, 2017.
